I am currently at work on a life history of my mother, née Judith Coplon. My Mother’s Secrets: A Daughter’s Odyssey Into the Heart of the Cold War (working title). She was arrested in March 1949, the first American to be charged with espionage for the former Soviet Union. She had two high-profile trials in Washington, DC (April-June, 1949) and New York City (January-March 1950). Despite being found guilty of most counts, all indictments against her were ultimately dropped in 1967.
Please enjoy images from an installation I made on the subject and check back for updates.
